The overseas sales figure included a 10 percent increase in exports and a 27 percent increase in vehicles produced at the company’s overseas plants. The figures for the two were 118,890 units and 98,333 units respectively. Overall, overseas sales rose 17% from a year earlier - and this despite the company’s mid-year industrial action and the overall global economic downturn.Emerging markets in India and China helped fuel sales with the i10 seeing a 66 percent increase in the Indian domestic market, whereas in China sales of the Elantra (Yuedong) increased by 21 percent. These figures emphasize Hyundai’s sustained commitment to developing and exporting fuel-efficient small to medium sized cars around the globe, an approach which has been endorsed by consumers.
