PETE SHEPHERD CHOSEN FOR ROUSH 'GONG SHOW'

Last night, CASCAR's 2004 Super Series Rookie of the Year Pete Shepherd found out that he has been invited to be the lone Canadian participant in the next version of Jack Roush's 'Gong Show' racer talent search.

From what I understand (and more details are to follow...), Petey will participate in a three-week competition featuring 25 up-and-coming stock car racers that will take place starting in early August at Concord, North Wilkesboro and Hickory Motor Speedway.

The popularity of Roush's 'Gong Shows' has grown to the point that the competition will be broadcast as a 'reality TV-style' show on Discovery Channel, and on Discovery Canada up here.

According to Petey's mom, Sharon, he will not miss any CASCAR races during production of the show.

Talk about great news! This is a great opportunity for a talented, nice kid to take a shot at reaching his dream.

Best of luck Petey!
