Checkered Flag: James Turner Charity Golf Tourney raised over $36,000

BARRIE, ON - Marge Decher passed on a nice note to let us know that the 5th Annual Racing With James Turner Golf Tournament, held a few days after the end of the CASCAR Super Series season, raised over $36,000 for charity.

James Turner and Marge Decher, at the 'Racing With James Turner CASCAR Golf Tournament, this past September at National Pines, in Barrie.

Fifty percent of that amount was donated to the Rick Hansen Man in Motion Foundation, while the balance was shared with the Canadian Diabetes Association and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. An extra special 'Checkered Flag' to them for their donation to the L&L Society. As many of you know, my wife Melody had non-hodgkins lymphoma and received a bone marrow transplant three-and-a-half years ago.

In her letter thanking people for their support of the golf tournament, Marge noted that in the five years the tournament has taken place, over $156,000 has been raised for various causes. The Committee for The Racing with James Turner CASCAR Celebrity Golf Tournament consists of: Mark & Taunja Dilley, Rick & Marge Decher and Kerry & Susan Micks.
