Top Porsche Cayenne Cars

Here are some nice shots of the Porsche booth in Geneva showing the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid. Seems like we miss something.

In the recent years German sports car makers Porsche have expanded out of its usual sports car market with the introduction of the Porsche Cayenne SUV and currently with its new Panamera sedan. However the VW led company is planning to take Porsche back to its original roots.

Even though the Cayenne has been one of the biggest money maker for Porsche in the recent years, the SUV does not really fall well in the sports car image of the company. Due to this Volkswagen has decided to cut off the Cayenne from Porsche product line after the next line of the SUV has run its course. An updated version of the Cayenne will give way for the 2011 model year but no updates are expected thereafter.

Another surprising move by Volkswagen is its decision to ax the recently launched Porsche Panamera Sedan. According to sources the Cayenne and Panamera are expected to end their life cycle with a stop in production sometime in 2016.

Despite the reduction in models, VW is said to be doing a new entry level car for Porsche. The yet to be announced car is said to slot between the Porsche Boxster. For true blood Porsche enthusiasts, the removal of the Cayenne and the Panamera is welcome news.

Rinspeed Xtreme Porsche Cayenne by Toyo Tires

Toyo revealed the vehicle that will be presented at the SEMA Show: the Rinspeed Xtreme Porsche Cayenne. The new vehicle will be fitted with Toyo (of course) Proxes SR II tires and will feature a new suspension kit in order to improve the stability of the SUV.

Rinspeed Xtreme Porsche Cayenne It doesn’t seem that there are any engine modifications. It would make sense if it this Cayenne just came for the Toyo Tire guys, but because Rinspeed is attached too, we were hoping for a cool scuba mod or at least a few more horses.

2009 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia

(from Cayenne Press Release) Cayenne S Entering the Market in Transsyberia Style

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is honouring the sporting success of the very popular Cayenne model series through the introduction of a new, special model, the Cayenne S Transsyberia entering the market in early 2009.

The term Transsyberia stands for the intercontinental rally from Moscow to the Mongolian Capital of Ulan Bator about 7,200 kilometres (4,460 miles) away. In 2006 a Porsche Cayenne for the first time won this highly demanding orientation and off-road rally. Then, entering the competition model for the Transsyberia Rally in 2007, Porsche again proved the outstanding competitiveness of a production-based Cayenne S in heavy terrain, finishing the rally first, second and third. And now, just a few weeks ago, the rally vehicle optimised to an even higher standard not only scored its third overall victory in the Transsyberia Rally, but even clinched all leading positions from 1 - 6.

2009 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia-12009 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia-2Motivated by this outstanding series of success, Porsche is now for the first time presenting the new Cayenne S Transsyberia for road and off-road use at the Paris Motor Show (4 19 October 2008). Like the extra-robust rally model, the road-going version is also based on the Cayenne S with its 4.8-litre V8 naturally-aspirated power unit featuring highly economical and efficient Direct Fuel Injection. The big difference, however, is that the new Transsyberia comes with the high-performance power unit carried over from the Cayenne GTS, developing 405 bhp (298 kW) at 6,500 rpm and maximum torque of 500 Newton-metres (369 lb-ft) at 3,500 rpm.

The modifications of the drivetrain have an even greater effect on the vehicles acceleration in gears of particular significance under everyday driving conditions and in racing: The Cayenne S Transsyberia with manual gearbox completes the interim sprint from 80 120 km/h in fifth gear in 6.6 seconds, a substantial two seconds faster than the Cayenne S. In its top speed, in turn, the Cayenne S Transsyberia is just as fast as the GTS, reaching a maximum of 253 km/h or 158 mph. And it almost goes without saying that six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission is available as an option.

The sporting qualities of the Cayenne S Transsyberia come out clearly through both the looks and the sound of this outstanding vehicle, the sports exhaust with two dual tailpipes featured as standard ensuring a truly muscular and dynamic impression.

Porsche Cayenne becomes diesel

It has finally happened. Porsche Cayenne has gone diesel.

Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (what a name, by the way) has confirmed that next year's Cayenne will be installed with a three-litre V6 diesel developing 237bhp and 406lb ft of torque.

Porsche Cayenne If that sounds familiar, that's because the oil-burner will be transplanted near-unchanged from the Audi Q7 - all part of the Posche/VAG group not-always-so-friendly partnership.

The turbodiesel will haul the Q7 to 60mph in 8.5 seconds and return around 27mpg, so we'd expect similar performance from the Cayenne.

Rather than investing in a new, expensive diesel engine, Porsche has instead ploughed its cash into developing a hybrid system, which should make its way into the Cayenne some time in 2010.

And if you're getting all het up about the idea of a diesel Porsche, just think: it could've been that five-litre V10 turbodiesel out the Touareg. We're not sure whether that'd be better or worse, really...

2008 JE Design Porsche Cayenne

(from JE Design Press Release) Muscular and sporty: JE DESIGN immediate Porsche Cayenne program

- NEW: Program for Porsche Cayenne
- muscular, sporty styling kit
- 22-inch "SUV"-Select wheels
- better agility as a result of electronic lowering, coilover suspension or sports springs
- dual oval tailpipes of stainless steel

JE DESIGN, previously well known for its modifications of models from the VW Group, is now including another brand in its tuning range. THE sports car brand of all time: Porsche. Thanks to its experience with upmarket SUVs such as the VW Touareg and the Audi Q7, it was an easy step for JE DESIGN to provide the Porsche Cayenne with a new outfit and give it a more original appearance.

2008 JE Design Porsche Cayenne-12008 JE Design Porsche Cayenne-2The JE DESIGN styling program for the Porsche Cayenne (957 model) comprises at the front end a spoiler that gives the SUV a significantly more muscular look, with a centre segment that is particularly effective when its bottom section is painted in a different color. The JE DESIGN component is a perfect fit, and integrates ideally into the rest of the design. It also includes LED daytime running lights, which not only enhance the looks of the vehicle but also crucially improve safety. Because "seeing and being seen" prevents accidents. Headlight masks ensure that the headlights no longer stand out with such dominance above the cooling air inlets. By means of this relatively minor design stratagem, JE DESIGN manages to bring additional sporty flair to the front aspect, since the front end also now seems lower.

Once you start a job, you have to finish it. Essential features for the harmonious look include the side sills, conveying an impression of "more meat on the ribs" and giving more character to the Cayennes profile.

And of course a facelifted Porsche Cayenne also needs a suitably elegant conclusion. This is provided by JE DESIGN in the form of an extended rear apron with diffuser styling, so that the individualized appearance of the Cayenne's rear is also more appealing. As in the case of the original apron, the JE DESIGN component also has room on the left and right for the exhaust tailpipes. As a replacement for these, JE DESIGN also offers its own dual oval tailpipes made of stainless steel, which fit perfectly into the apertures.

JE DESIGN offers the parts as complete styling kit (tailpipes separately). In a second step, JE DESIGN offers the kit including LED entry lights, each with five LED light units fitted in the right and left-hand door sills, plus a six-light LED unit mounted on the extended rear apron.

As for other models, JE DESIGN also offers the "Shark Attack" roof fin to finish off the look.
