Dacia Duster (First Photos)

Dacia today has presented official photos of the first off-road car which has received name Duster. The price becomes the main advantage of this car – in Old World Dacia Duster 15 000 euros for a base complete set will cost an order. That is Duster it will appear in Europe the most accessible 5-door off-road car. Dacia prepares the off-road car, it was known for a long time already. Also was not a secret that the car will receive name Duster. And, nevertheless, occurrence of official photos has caused a great interest.

Beautiful Duster to name difficult. The car at the Romanian designers has turned out any gloomy, but, probably, they and achieved it. After all for off-road cars similar appearance – the blessing. Especially when target audience are men. However, it is necessary to tell at once that high-grade off-road car Dacia Duster nevertheless is not. Yes, it will have an all wheel drive system and a road gleam in 200 mm. But thus the car will do without a powerful frame, and blocking of differentials here too will not appear (after all at the heart of Duster the platform from Logan) lies. Besides, Dacia will begin release and budgetary versions with a drive gear only on one shaft.

Well and under cowl Duster will start to put well familiar to us on model Logan the gasoline engine in volume of 1,6 l (110 h.p.). Also there will be a 1,5-litre diesel engine in two versions: 85 h.p. and 105 h.p. Base complete set Duster will appear not too rich (but silly to expect updates from such cheap off-road car). But, nevertheless, the car will receive ABS, two pillows of safety (installation of four pillows is possible). As an option antispin system will be offered.

Renault Dacia introduces New Logan

New Dacia Logan will be introduced across the majority of Western European markets from July 2008. In most cases, its entry level price remains unchanged, making it a more appealing proposition than ever.

New Dacia Logan stands out as a modern saloon with more contemporary exterior lines which reflect its robust, quality build. The grille, which first appeared on Dacia Sandero, is bigger and features the brand's new logo, plus a chrome upper trim as standard (except entry level version). The new front bumper is flush with the bodywork for a more integrated, harmonious feel, while the headlights are bigger and the fog lamps come with elegant carbon colour surrounds (depending on version).

Dacia Logan-1Dacia Logan-2The rear design of New Dacia Logan has been updated, too. The design of the new boot lid, which can be trimmed with a lower chrome strip, is more streamlined and its lines have been carried over to the revised rear lights. The rear bumper, too, is now flush with the bodywork and incorporates reflectors and a towing hook complete with concealing cap.

Drivers will appreciate the practical controls, and special care has gone into ensuring that all dashboard information is easy to read. The driving environment itself has been made even more comfortable and driverfriendly thanks to a new driver's seat adjustment control (depending on version) and a height-adjustable steering column (depending on version). Rear visibility has been improved through the fitment of a comma-type central rear headrest and large format door mirrors. These have been carried over from Dacia Logan MCV and are standard equipment on New Dacia Logan.

The 1.4 MPI 75hp, 1.6 MPI 90hp and 1.6 16V 105hp all comply with the criteria of cost, robustness and ease of maintenance that are a feature of the Dacia brand. They combine generous torque from low revs with thrifty fuel consumption: 7.0, 7.2 and 7.1 litres/100km respectively.

The 1.5 dCi stands out as a benchmark in the diesel engine field thanks to the use of such advanced technologies as second-generation common-rail direct injection which delivers both high performance and extremely low fuel consumption. The 1.5 dCi is available in 70hp form and a punchier 85hp version, while CO2 emissions of 120g/km point to the 1.5 dCi 70hp and 1.5 dCi 85hp engines' ecological credentials.

New Dacia Logan will be produced in Pitesti, Romania. Total investment amounted to €27 million and the development teams remained true to the Logan spirit by investing solely in what was strictly necessary to continue delivering the best possible equipment and performance at an attractive price. Indeed, the entry level price for New Dacia Logan remains unchanged in the majority of the countries where it is sold.

The Dracula Dacia Logan

Who knew the Prince of Darkness was into Eastern European econocars? After all, he is immortal, so you'd think he'd want something that'd probably last him a little longer than a Dacia Logan. Then again, Transylvania was part of Dacia in ancient times, so maybe this is how he cheekily shows his sense of nostalgia. In any case, there's no accounting for personal taste, and from the looks of things, Dracula's is pretty bad.

The Dracula Dacia LoganThe Dracula Dacia Logan-2The Dracula Dacia Logan-3Look at those airbrushed scenes on the bodywork; the wall-to-wall Alcantara interior; the red LED "starlight" headliner; the custom "Dracula" badging; the coffin-shaped amp housings; the 8-million-speaker audio system -- clearly, this was a project he eagerly sunk his teeth into. From the looks of things, chicks dig it, too. At least until he sinks his teeth into them. Still, the thought of eternal life with a Dacia Logan -- particularly this one -- makes a stake through the heart seem like a pretty good option.

Focus in sight for UK-bound Logan

There's a Dacia coming to the UK that promises to offer a cut price alternative to Ford's Focus.

Replacing the existing Logan – which reaches our shores in the form of the supermini-sized Sandero hatchback next year – it’s bigger and much better-looking, and has enough space inside for a family of five. Buyers can also expect a far more modern cabin, with a step up in quality and plenty of equipment as standard.

Dacia LoganThe engine range will comprise a 1.6-litre petrol, while there are plans for a turbodiesel, too. All models get stability control as standard.

Crucially, though, it will still carry a budget price. The range, due here in 2010, is likely to start at around £8,000. And as well as the hatchback in our main picture, our spies have seen a prototype version of a saloon being put through its paces in Romania, where the current Logan is built. An estate will be offered, too.

While the new Logan hatchback won’t be arriving here for a couple of years, Renault’s first UK-bound Dacia, the Sandero, will reach showrooms in less than 12 months’ time.

Unveiled at last autumn’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the budget supermini is based on the current Logan. It’s similar in size to a Fiesta, yet will carry a price tag in the region of £6,000.

While saloon and seven-seat estate variants are offered in Europe, the hatch is the only Logan-based model destined for the UK. It will be sold in selected Renault main dealers.
