2011 Audi R8 Tv SHOW

The television show Top Gear compared the Nissan GT-R to the R8, and remarked that the R8 was "simultaneously less impressive and yet somehow more involving". On the R8 they wrote that "it rewards driver input", calling it "fantastic in a way that will appeal more to true car enthusiasts", but also remarked that it was "much slower", and the GT-R was cheaper. On their test track, the car performed better than a Lamborghini Gallardo and an Aston Martin DB9.

Audi R8 GT extreme

Audi R8 GT extreme

Occurrence Audi R8 with 5,2-litre 525 strong "ten" became unpleasant unexpectedness for competitors of German super car. After all for rather small, super cars money, to potential buyers was offered measures fast, charismatic, and moreover the all-wheel drive sport car . No wonder that sales Audi R8 have gone at once uphill. And here in Ingolstadt are ready to surprise again colleagues with the extreme version «R» - Audi R8 GT.

In the audit car many knots and units have undergone therefore R8 GT "has grown thin" for 100 kg (to 1525 kg) . In particular the windshield of a smaller thickness has been established, and lateral and rear glass is executed from polycarbonate. Besides, body panels are made of composit materials, and instead of the ceramic there were brakes from carbon. And here established earlier on Audi R8 V10 525 h.p. motor from Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 now it decided to put in "a protogenic" kind – 560 h.p. and 540 Nm. All it has allowed to reduce an acceleration time to first hundred on 0,3 sec (3,6), and the maximum speed has grown on 7 km/h (336 km/h).

With the engine six-step robotised change speed gearbox R-Tronic is still aggregated. Outwardly the car practically has not changed, and to distinguish version Audi R8 GT from the predecessor it is possible on "the stationary" rear wing which has appeared behind, mirrors of the changed form and small spoilers on a front bumper. Audi R8 V10 will manage from 146 thousand dollars

For test drive this sport car yet have not given, but Audi has already published the price on R8 5.2 FSI Quattro, more known, as V-10 R8. The sport car with a median arrangement of the ten-cylinder engine and a mechanical gear box will manage in 146 000 dollars, and with R Tronic – already in 155 000.

As a matter of fact, two additional cylinders as 2010 R8 4.2 FSI cost on 32 thousand dollars more cheaply could become the reason of such high cost. On the other hand, V10 will give in hands of the owner on 105 horsepowers more. By the way, for the privilege to receive one of the two first 525-strong cars interested persons have paid neither much, nor it is not enough – 500 000 dollars, and the purchase right was challenged at auction.

Mirror Audi R8

When you see the mirror car, at once you think that it belongs to any Arab. However this Audi R8, seemingly, an exception to the rules as it has been photographed in Europe. Usually performance of similar whims incurs division Audi Exclusive, however number of its representations it is not enough, therefore it seems to us that the order of the client has been executed by any local tuning studio.

The customer has preferred to paint an emblem and carbon lateral edges of air intakes in black colour. And though it would be in our opinion quite good to pick up other varnish that dark elements were more harmoniously combined with colour of a body, the car has all the same turned out impressing.

2009 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro

(from Audi press release) The Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro: breathtaking performance

Ingolstadt Audi is launching the next variant of its top-of-the-line model. With the R8, the brand has established itself at the forefront of high-end sports cars from the very start and now comes the R8 V10. Its 5.2-liter, ten-cylinder engine churns out 386 kW (525 hp) and 530 Nm (390.91 lb-ft) of torque, which makes for breathtaking performance. With superior Audi technologies such as quattro all-wheel drive, the lightweight aluminum body, the innovative all-LED headlights, and its striking design, the R8 V10 takes pole position against the competition.

2009 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro-12009 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro-2The R8 V10 is the result of cumulative know-how from Audis string of Le Mans victories. Its naturally aspirated engine combines racing technology such as dry sump lubrication with FSI gasoline direct injection. The ten-cylinder design is the perfect synthesis for impressive top performance, mighty pulling power, and low weight. Starting in 2009, this engine will also prove its potential on the worlds racetracks in the new R8 racing car Audi is developing for customer teams in conformance with the GT3 rules.

The V10 engine in the production sports car will be almost identical in construction to the one in the racing version. Its displacement is 5,204 cc, at 6,500 rpm it delivers 530 Nm (390.91 lb-ft) of torque, at 8,000 rpm its power tops out at 386 kW (525 hp).

The specific power output is 100.9 hp per liter of displacement and each hp has to propel only 3.09 kilograms (6.91 lb) of weight, because the Audi R8 V10 in the version with the six-speed manual gearshift weighs only 1,620 kilograms (3571 lb). The engine accounts for 258 of these kilograms (569 lb) thats only 31 kilos (68 lb) more than the V8.

The Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro rockets from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.9 seconds. In the version with the sequentially shifting R tronic it reaches 200 km/h (124.27 mph) in another 8.1 seconds. Even then its propulsive power hardly lessens: its sufficient to reach a top speed of 316 km/h (196.35 mph). The immense force, the spontaneity and the thrust of the acceleration, plus the sound of the engine all these impressions coalesce into a breathtaking sports car experience. The V10 plays a concert with growling bass tones and powerful high notes, which grows into a grandiose fortissimo as the engine revs up. This sonorous acceleration doesnt reach its limit until 8,700 rpm.

2011 Audi R8 Spyder

The Audi R8 may still be one of the hottest entries in the sports-car world, but the hype has died down a bit. With its dramatic mid-engine proportions, it is still a stunning sight on the road, but waiting lists have shrunk in many places—in its native Germany, an R8 can now be had in just two to three months' time.

Audi R8oduce 398 lb-ft of torque, a much-needed boost in a competitive environment where—crazy as it sounds—the V-8's 420 horses and 317 lb-ft don't quite cut the beef.

Audi says both engines will be sold alongside each other, but we wouldn't be surprised to see the V-8 go away at a later point. On the road, they can be distinguished by the V-8’s small, quadruple tailpipes versus the wider double pipes of the V-10. They can also be easily recognized by their sound: the gloves are off with the V-10, and it will make you notice.

Audi R8 Spyder V10 Spotted – video

Listen to this beast roar. The noise comes from a suspected 580 HP 5.0-liter twin-turbo V10 from the Audi RS6. I bet all the impatient Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder buyers feel dumb now.

2010 Audi R8 Spyder - Video

Where would we be without the legions of spy photographers out there? Without this fantastic snippet of Audi’s mid-engined drop-top taking it to Nurburgring, for one. Looks like the topless German will sport a retractable soft top instead of the rumored removable targa roof . While this car won’t be fit for public consumption until 2010, the company is said to be working on wedging a 510 horspower V10 behind the front seats. The company says the 10 pot configuration should be available in the coupe as early as mid-2009. And that, my Fiends, is worth waiting for. Unfortunately, we can’t wait. Jump for the video.

Audi R8 GT3 unveiled

Call it a new car or not, Audi has made it official that their new Audi R8 GT3 that sports 550hp is going to be available to the market from autumn 2009.

Audi R8 GT3 -1Audi R8 GT3 -2“The R8 is the first production Audi bearing the name and genes of a successful racing sportscar and is therefore an excellent base from which to build up our first big customer sport program,” explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich.

Built on a rear-wheel-drive architecture, the new Audi R8 GT3 is looking even better and sports things like a rear wing, a full roll cage, heat extractors over the engine bay or a longer spoiler. But did we mention the performances? It runs on a new 6-speed sequential sports gearbox that takes the suspension components from the regular R8 and sports 550 hp?

Audi R8 Spider Spied

The convertible version of Audi’s R8 supercar has been spotted testing in Germany without a hint of camouflage material. These latest images of the test car reveal that the new convertible will gain a conventional fabric roof but misses out on the R8’s trademark aluminium side blades.
Other major changes for the new Spider that are expected to make it to production will be additional air intakes located behind the seats as well as a pair of safety roll-over bars.

Audi R8 Spider-1Audi R8 Spider-2The placement of the fuel filler cap will also be changed due to the missing rear pillars, while changes under the sheetmetal will likely include extra chassis strengthening. While the base model will likely stick with the hard-top’s 420hp (313kW) 4.2L V8 engine, there’s talk that Audi may shoehorn the 5.2L V10 from the S6 and S8 sports-saloons into a mid-level model and reserve the 5.0L twin-turbo V10 from the RS6 for a high-performance RS-variant.

The differences between it and the standard V8 model will extend beyond just horsepower outputs. The chassis has reportedly been modified to accommodate the extra power, gaining upgraded suspension, steering and braking systems. This particular test car is thought to be the top end RS version of the new R8.

Tell-tale signs are the exhaust pipe and diffusers, which are the same as those fitted to Audi’s other V10 models, as well as the new grille design. Onlookers even claim the test car had the sound of a V10 and not a V8.

Audi R8 test drive ends with a swim

There have got to be cheaper ways to go for a swim, but one driver apparently couldn't find one. The 33-year-old Dutch man from the town of Woerden in the Netherlands went by his local Audi dealership to check out a brand spankin' new R8 supercar... and then proceeded to drive it into the nearest river. The driver was reportedly speeding – 80 mph according to police, but closer to 125 if you ask some of the bystanders – in a 50 zone when he hit a bump, lost control and skidded into a dyke. Although local law enforcement authorities are reportedly investigating the incident, nobody was hurt. The same cannot be said, sadly, for the car, which is reportedly in a repair shop where the dealer's insurance company will surely declare it a write-off.

Audi R8After Intersection magazine gave another Audi product the treatment by lowering it into a swimming pool in England – the same one that Jeremy Clarkson drove a Rolls-Royce into, by the looks of things – we can't help but wonder and worry if this isn't a developing trend. In the meantime, we'll do our part to remind the motoring public that although the R8 is an incredibly capable car, it is not a submersible Lotus.

Audi R8 vs Porsche 911 vs Aston Martin Vantage - video

Car and Driver Comparison Test of Porsche 911 Turbo Audi R8 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Hard to choose between the three:
-the Audi R8 is the coolest
-the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is the best looking
-the Porsche 911 Turbo has the best driving dynamics

Being a Porsche fan, I would have to give the nod to the 911 Turbo.

Audi R8-TT

Do you own a TT but hanker after an R8? If so, Siegen-based tuner B&B has the answer. Yes, why bother trading up when you can transform your TT into this?!

Audi R8-TT-1Audi R8-TT-2OK, so the B&B TT is no looker - but the engine stats make interesting reading. With various inlet, exhaust and turbo modifications, B&B has squeezed 362bhp out of the 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder engine.

The result is a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds - the same as an R8 - and a top speed of 175mph. That's 12mph shy of Audi's supercar. Adjustable suspension is also fitted, as are a set of 20-inch wheels.

Audi R8 DTM safety car

Audi has announced that its superlative R8 sportscar will serve as the safety car for the ever-popular DTM touring car championship, having also served in the same capacity for the recently-concluded 24 Hours of Le Mans. Audi's performance division quattro GmbH prepared a pair of R8s for the German racing series – with the second serving as a "racing taxi" – but noted that, "because the R8 possesses the genes of a perfect sports car", little in the way of modification for duty was required.

Audi R8 DTMThe pair of R8 support vehicles made its debut at the Norisring Speed Weekend yesterday, where Mercedes-Benz beat out the new Audi A4 DTM with a 1-2 finish.

2008 Audi R8

The innovative R8 supercar from Audi is now available for the first time with full LED headlamps. In addition to the standard Audi-signature 24-LED running lamps it's always had, this extremely expensive option (£3,590 converts to $7,100 USD) adds LED high and low beam headlamps and LED turn signals to the front fascia of the mid-engine sports car.

2008 Audi R8-12008 Audi R8-2The latest craze in automotive lighting, LED bulbs don't utilize a filament like halogen lamps or gas plasma like HID lamps. Instead, they create light from the movement of current across a semi-conductor chip. They are smaller, more vibration resistant, and much more efficient than traditional bulbs. According to Audi, the light from the LEDs has been designed to closely resemble daylight and provides a greater contrast to be easier on the human eye. LED illumination is also designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle. Audi is no stranger to LED lighting - it first introduced a strip-shaped fog lamp at the Detroit Auto Show back in 2003.

2008 MTM Audi R8

(from MTM Press Release) It has long been questioned and discussed if we should attend to the Audi R8. Today we can give you an answer: Yes, we will! Therefore we do not want to withhold the first pictures of our prototype.

2008 MTM Audi R82008 MTM Audi R8-2The test car is equipped with forged mtm bimoto rims which – due to their style of construction - are very light but yet rigid. The rim sizes for front and rear axle are specially customized for the R8 and positively influence the tendency to over-/understeer. Sport tyres – so-called semislicks – with MOT approval are optionally available . The rims will be in stock in June.

A special tidbit will be the exhaust-gas system made of stainless steel which will of course be delivered with a flue gas damper control. Please allow us to claim to have managed to improve the already impressive serial sound. Thanks to an elaborated damper piloting we can increase the volume without leaving the permitted range. The result is a TBV certificate delivered with every exhaust-gas system. In stock presumably in May.

Spacers for series wheels, brake pads as well as sport brake pads with 380x34mm for the front axle are already available! The according price list will be put online soon.

There is still room left for speculation. Chassis, aerodynamics and a significant engine modification “house-style”.... Just wait and see!

Audi R8 TDI Le Mans infiltrates Geneva

The Audi R8 V12 TDI concept that made such a splash in Detroit has a fraternal twin, and it's headed to Geneva. Finished in Brilliant Red paint and dubbed the R8 TDI Le Mans -- the association with the fabled endurance race carries a lot more weight on the Continent -- the car arrives in Geneva with the same impressive spec sheet as its silver counterpart.

Audi R8 TDI Le MansAudi R8 TDI Le Mans-2A 6.0L V12 TDI is crammed in the space behind the R8's passenger compartment. It packs a bit of a punch, too -- 500 horsepower and enough torque (737 lb-ft) to alter the earth's rotation allow for a 0-62 mph time of just 4.2 seconds and a 186 mph top end. That's Euro 6-compliant power, too. Clean and mean -- emphasis on the mean.
